Hi Tina! Here's a review of the past lesson (June 23) and what to practice for the next lesson...

What we covered:

Below are some of the things we discussed:

1) Theory/Glossary:

  • No new terms this week.


What to practice:

1) Technique:

  • Scales: Bb Major / Bb Natural Minor (4 octaves)
    1. Also use the rhythm
  • Arpeggios: Bb Major / Bb Minor (3 octaves)
2) Method:

  • None at this time.
3) Repertoire/Composition:

  • Clementi
    • 1st Movt.
      • 4 measures from the end of each section...make sure the 16ths in the R.H. line up with the L.H.
      • Watch staccatos (e.g., top of page 2)
      • a little more lifts in the L.H. on the Dolce sections
    • 2nd Movt.
      • Again, watch to hold the 's long enough
  • Mozart
    • Same as Clementi...watch to make all staccatos short
      (not )
  • Beethoven
    • Watch to make all staccatos short
    • Watch for the slur/staccato combination (long --> short)
    • Watch the timing going into the 2nd ending
4) Listening:
